He loved to munch on green leaves and build dams with sticks and mud. His dam was the biggest and strongest in the entire river.

One day, Walter noticed a tree near the creek. “I can use this tree for a new dam!” he thought. "I will build the biggest dam!"

He began to chew on the tree with his sharp teeth. The tree fell with a loud crash. Walter worked tirelessly, carrying sticks, mud, and leaves to build his dam.

His friend, an otter named Isabelle came by to help. “This dam will be the best! It will be the biggest and tallest dam anyone has ever seen,” Isabelle said.

As they worked, they heard the sound of a jeep coming closer. Walter peeked from behind the dam.

The jeep had a big mean dog in it. “I hope that dog stays away,” Walter whispered to Isabelle.

The river was full of sounds. Birds chirped, frogs croaked, and water splashed. But the loudest sound was the dog’s bark.

Suddenly, the dog jumped out of the jeep and ran towards them! Walter felt his heart race.

“We need to hide! “ he said urgently. They dashed behind the dam, their hearts pounding. The dog sniffed around but could not find them. After what felt like forever, the dog left, barking loudly as it left.

Walter and Isabelle sighed in relief. “That was close!” Isabelled said.

“Yes but we are safe now,” replied Walter. They returned to their work, ready to finish before the week ended.

They built and built until finally, the dam was done. It was tall, strong, and flawless.

Walter felt proud. “We did it!” he cheered. Tim smiled. “Let’s celebrate with a meal of fresh fish!” Walter agreed eagerly. They caught fish from the stream and ate by the dam.

The river seemed quieter and calmer now. As the sun set, Walter felt tired but happy. He lay down on the soft grass and closed his eyes. The river was peaceful again, and Walter drifted off to sleep, dreaming of even bigger dams.
