Amari's Selfless Act of Kindness

Brenda stepped silently across the junkyard, the wooden beams creaking beneath her.

She was on an endless quest to find food. The hunger she felt was painful and made her feel hopeless.

"This is pointless," she whispered, nudging an old kettle with her nose. A sound rang in the stillness of the jungle. Then, the wind blew, carrying a smell that made her mouth water.

Brenda followed the smell to a small creek where a boy was fishing and singing a tune.

Brenda got down low, her legs tense, ready to pounce. But something about the boy made her stop.

His song was peaceful and made her feel calm. She remembered the useless hunts from the last week and sighed.

"I do not want to frighten him," she whispered. She approached him slowly. The boy turned, his eyes wide open.

"Hello lion," he said calmly. "Are you hungry?" he held out a fish. Its silver scales shone brightly in the sun. Brenda was speechless. No one had ever shown her such selfless kindness.

She smelled the fish and then looked at the boy. He smiled warmly and patted her head. "You do not have to be helpless. I will teach you," he said.

After some time, Brenda and the boy became friends. Amari was always helpful. He showed Brenda where to find food and water.

Brenda felt hopeful for the first time in a long while. Her nights were peaceful and no longer sleepless.

Over time, with Amari's help, Brenda became skillful at catching fish.

Brenda was thankful for Amari. He was a selfless boy who treated her as a friend.
