Amari's Selfless Act of Kindness
Tamara stepped silently across the junkyard, the wooden beams creaking beneath her.
She was on an endless quest to find food. The hunger she felt was painful and made her feel hopeless.
"This is pointless," she thought, nudging an old kettle with her nose. A sound echoed in the stillness of the jungle. Then, a soft breeze blew, carrying a smell that made her mouth water.
Tamara followed the smell to a small creek where a boy was fishing and singing a tune.
Tamara got down low, her legs tense, ready to pounce. But something about the boy made her pause.
His song was peaceful and made her feel calm. She remembered the useless hunts from the past few days and sighed.
"I don't want to frighten him," she thought. She approached him slowly. The boy turned around, his eyes wide open.
"Hello lion," he said calmly. "Are you hungry?" he held out a fish. Its silver scales shone brightly in the sun. Tamara was speechless. No one had ever shown her such selfless kindness.
She smelled the fish and then looked at the boy. He smiled warmly and patted her head. "You don't have to be helpless. I will teach you," he said.
Over the next few days, Tamara and the boy became friends. Amari was always helpful. He showed Tamara where to find food and water.
Tamara felt hopeful for the first time in a long while. Her nights were peaceful and no longer sleepless.
Over time, with Amari's help, Tamara became skillful at catching fish.
Tamara was thankful for Amari. He was a selfless boy who treated her as a friend.
