The Slide
May the koala lived high up in the branches of a tall gum tree. She loved to spend her days sleeping, eating, and listening to the sounds of the forest.
One day, it began to rain. The animals in the forest were still and May enjoyed the light taps and pitter patter of the rain drops.
After the rain came, a rainbow appeared. It was quite a sight. May had never seen anything like it. The rainbow gave her an idea.
May thought the rainbow looked like a beautiful slide. She felt inspired and got to work. She decided to build a slide from the tallest tree branch down to the ground.
She cut some branches and tied them together with rope. May worked hard day and night.
Her pals, the deer, and birds came by to watch as May worked. They helped her too. After the slide was made, they helped paint it. May was glad to have helpful pals.
One Friday afternoon, after many weeks of work, May's slide was finally done. She felt proud of all of her hard work and beamed with joy.
She climbed up, up, up, to the top of the slide and then slid down quickly, it was a delight.
May's dream came true that day, she created something for the animals to do when it rained. She and her pals played and slid all day long.
May's slide gave the animals of the forest something to do while it rained. Now on rainy days, the forest was filled with smiles and fun.
May's dream was not just for her, but for everyone to enjoy. She worked hard to make her dream come true and inspired her pals to do the same.
Now when it rains, you can still hear the pitter patter of the rain, but also the "Weeeee" of the animals going down the rainbow slide.
