Lily the Otter Gets Distracted
Lily the otter happily swam in the sea.
She loved to play, explore, and discover new things, but she had a problem.
Lily sometimes got distracted and liked to swim off in the opposite direction. Other otters tried to help her to focus but it was no use. Lily dismissed what the otters said and disagreed with them. She did not think she got easily distracted.
One day, Lily decided that she wanted to discover a new part of her home.
She swam happily, but then she got distracted by a shiny shell.
She swam towards it, dismissing how far she was getting from home.
By the time Lily looked up, she was a far distance away from her home. She disengaged with the shiny shell and dropped it in the sand.
Lily was in disbelief and felt a sense of panic. She tried to swim back, but it was a disaster, she was lost.
Lily did not discount her feelings. She disliked feeling lost and began to cry. She felt disconnected from her home but remembered something her mother taught her.
She stopped feeling disappointed and thought about what her mother would do.
She remembered what her mother told her, "If you get lost, just focus on staying still."
So, Lily tried to dispose of her negative feelings and instead focused on staying still. Lily stayed where she was and waited for help.
Meanwhile, Lily's mother noticed she was missing.
Lily's mother looked everywhere but could not find Lily. Lily's mother felt distressed. She asked other otters if they had seen Lily but no one had.
Lily's mother needed help so she dispatched a team of otters to help her look for Lily.
After a while of searching, Lily's mother finally discovered Lily from a distance.
Lily's mother quickly swam to Lily and helped her find her way home. Lily's mother did not feel disappointed in Lily, just glad to have found her.
Lily was relieved and promised to try not to get distracted again.
From that day on, Lily was more careful and focused. She made sure not to wander too far from home.
When she became distracted again, she remembered how much she disliked feeling lost and remembered to focus. Lily had learned her lesson and was a much happier otter.
