George the Beaver: The Tale of a Sturdy Dam
George, the beaver, had a busy day planned.
First, he grabbed his bag, packed with twigs and mud.
He knew the screeching gull would be the biggest hurdle.
But, he ran faster, his feet plopped in the wet mud.
George reached the stream, it was wetter than most days.
He started building, his hands moving quick and steady.
He stopped for a moment, looked at the gull and clapped.
The gull flew away, George was the happiest then.
With the gull gone, George felt safer and could work faster.
He mapped out where the next slabs of mud should go.
The sun was setting, but his dam was not complete.
Working in the dim light, he plopped more mud.
George was tired, but he kept on working.
He saw the first ray of dawn, the dam was almost done.
He was the madder when he saw the dam leaking.
But he didn't stop, he plopped more mud and fixed the leak.
Finally, the dam was complete. George had succeeded.
He was the proudest and, surely, the tiredest beaver around.
George looked at his dam, it was the biggest he had ever built.
He hopped into his new home, and slept the deepest sleep.
George woke up, the sun was shining, and his dam was perfect.
He stepped out, clapped his hands, he was the happiest beaver.
His hard work had paid off, his dam was the sturdiest.
George knew he had done his best, and he was content.
